Ethiopia

Our connection to Ethiopia started in a very home grown, organic way through a Vision Family who adopted a little girl from Ethiopia.  Since that time, there have been several mission trips to Ethiopia where deeper connections have been made and long distance families have been formed. You may not know that Vision Church has a staff member, Tillahoun Molla (Tilly) in Ethiopia. Being Ethiopian himself, Tilly understands the people of Ethiopia and has first-hand knowledge of the needs, the people and the culture of the Kembata Tembaro region and its surroundings.

The region is one of the most densely populated rural areas in Ethiopia and is in the midst of an ecological crisis. Without irrigation systems, farmers are at the mercy of the weather, and in a place where the rains do not always deliver on schedule, it can mean that the region’s people go hungry more years than not.

Most families in the region live on less than 50 cents per day and many of the regions are without shelter (home pictured here was built by Vision church), enough food, jobs, schools, healthcare, clean water and opportunity.

To help combat this issue, when you give to Vision Church, a percentage of your giving goes directly to Tilly in Ethiopia to aid them in their mission and share Jesus with the people there.  In a predominantly Muslim area, we are working hard to build churches and meet the needs of the people there all in the name of Jesus!  By living out our Matthew 25 mission, this is just another way God is enabling people to bless others across the world.  To be involved in the efforts in Ethiopia send and email to Leanna by clicking here

Community Outreach Team

This is the team that is responsible for putting together all of the events that serve and meet needs in our community.  These events include our annual Marana Backpack Event, the Holiday Bazaar, cooking a meal at the Ronald McDonald House, feeding needy families with Adopt a Family for Thanksgiving, toys for kids at Christmas, collecting for our local community food bank, and more.  If you would like to be a part of this service-driven team, send an email to Lisa by clicking here and she'll let you know how you can be involved.

Light Prison Ministry

Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’  Jesus cares for those in prison and so do we.  Often times, those in prison don't have anyone who believes in them and they don't personally know that Jesus does too.

We have a team of people who write letters to inmates to share with them who God is, that He loves them no matter what they've done and forgiveness is one decision away.  Building these relationships with them through letter writing gives them a support system to re-enter our community and feel accepted.

We also have a team of people who go into prisons together to teach material to interested inmates about the facts that back up why we believe what we do (material provided).

Our band, Gray2Red also goes into local prisons to play music, pray with them, and help them to sign their kids up for the Angel Tree at Christmas.

Casa de Elizabeth

Casa de Elizabeth is an orphanage located in Imuris, Mexico just south of Nogales. It is home to over 60 kids, ranging in age from toddler to 18 years old, at any given time.   Currently, the way we support the kids that live here is to take loads of food down to them on a regular basis.

The first weekend of every month, we collect food, both perishable (we have a freezer dedicated to this cause) and non-perishable food items.  We have a person who drives the loads down to deliver the collected food.  You can bring in food to donate to the children of Casa de Elizabeth and leave it in the donation area.  Thank you for helping us to keep the children fed.

Care Ministry

This was started by one of Vision Church’s own who found herself laid up and feeling isolated after a difficult surgery.  Our Care Ministry meets needs at crucial times for people who are dealing with tough times.  The Care Ministry will visit people who are sick, prepare meals, provide some childcare, or help recipients catch up on household chores. Whatever the need is, we have an opportunity to practically show some love and care at the times when people need it.  That’s what the Vision Care Ministry is all about.

It is also a great opportunity for people to serve God with the specific gifts and skill sets God has given them.  If you would like to help with one of our most personal and meaningful ministries, or if you are in need of this kind of care, please email the Care Ministry by clicking here or fill out a Vision card and drop it off in the boxes by the doors.

Beyond Vision

There are many areas to be involved in that are headed up by someone at Vision Church, but are not directly run by Vision Church. There are also many wonderful organizations doing phenomenal work in our community and we believe partnering with them is better than trying to do it by ourselves.  We call these groups "Beyond Vision" because they are run by others but they also give the opportunity for the people of Vision Church to take the love of Jesus outside of Vision Church walls. These are places that serve the community at large as well as some of the people at Vision.  You can find a listing of all of the areas that are Beyond Vision that you can be a part of by clicking here (not an exhaustive list.  You can find other organizations in and around Tucson doing great work).  Thank you for taking the love of God and sharing it with those around you.  The Church isn't about a building!
